Liam Hampson playing for Tweed’s Colts side in 2018

18th Man would like to send its condolences to the family and friends of Redcliffe Dolphins hooker Liam Hampson, who tragically passed away in Barcelona this week.

A Brothers St Brendans junior, he played for the Easts Tigers in the Cyril Connell Cup in 2014 and attended Keebra Park State High, starting at hooker for the school in the 2016 National Schoolboy Cup final.

In 2017, he joined the Warriors, playing two games for their National Youth Competition side. Later that year, he returned to Queensland, playing for the Tweed Seagulls’ FOGS Colts Challenge side.

In 2018, Hampson played for Seagulls in the inaugural season of the Hastings Deering Colts. He scored 13 tries in 18 games and was named the club’s under-20s Player of the Year.

The following season he moved up to the club’s Queensland Cup side, playing 26 games over three seasons.

This year, the 24-year-old made the switch to the Dolphins, where he played in 11 games, including their Grand Final loss to the Devils in September.
