WESTERN CLYDESDALES 37 – 34 BURLEIGH BEARS
It’s been a long wait but the Western Clydesdales are finally back in the winners’ circle, snapping their 19-game losing streak. The loss for Burleigh ended their faint finals hopes.

Western Clydesdales 37 (A Brighton, C Cavanagh, A Donn, L Ghee, N Ingram, C Pfingst tries; E Speed 6 goals, field) def. Burleigh 34 (T Khan-Pereira 2, H Ploegsma 2, S McIntyre, K Skipps, B Tagg tries; B Tagg 3 goals) at Glenholme Park. Referee: B Sheppard. Half time: Clydesdales 19-8.

TOWNSVILLE BLACKHAWKS 40 – 16 TWEED SEAGULLS
The Blackhawks turned it on in the second half against Tweed, scoring 28 points. The win keeps Townsville in equal first but they’ll need a win and Wynnum Manly loss in Round 17 to take the minor premiership.

MACKAY CUTTERS 24 – 20 SUNSHINE COAST FALCONS
Mackay have finally fought their way into the Top 8 with an upset win over the Falcons. The Cutters now face the last-placed Clydesdales in Round 24. The Falcons will play finals but have dropped to sixth after the defeat.

IPSWICH JETS 28 – 20 NORTHS DEVILS
The Jets’ best ever Colts season continued in Round 23 with a win over Norths. While unable to make the finals, Ipswich can finish just two points outside the eight with a win this weekend. The Devils meanwhile, drop to 12th.

Ipswich 28 (Z Alley 2, T Bowman, K Chan-Tung, L Pokipoki tries; N Stephensen 4 goals) def. Norths 20 (J Atonio, B Dodd, I Hawes, K Jenkins tries; B Dodd, J Murray goals) at Bishop Park. Referee: A Rossiter. Half time: Ipswich 20-14.

WYNNUM MANLY SEAGULLS 64 – 6 SOUTHS LOGAN MAGPIES
The first-placed Seagulls dominant season rolled on with a 58-point demolition of Souths Logan, their 13-straight win. The loss was the Magpies sixth consecutive and knocks them out of the top 8.

BRISBANE TIGERS 38 – 18 CQ CAPRAS
The Tigers bounced back from last round’s loss with an impressive win over the fourth-placed Capras. The Tigers have jumped into fifth while the Capras remain in the top four.

The Northern Pride forfeited their game against Redcliffe. The Dolphins were awarded a 40-0 victory.
