Norths Devils’ halfback Josh James and Townsville Blackhawks’ fullback Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow were named joint Mal Meninga Cup Player of the Year winners at the QRL Awards in Brisbane last night.
The pair both represented Queensland under-18 in their win over New South Wales in June and made their Hastings Deering Colts debuts later in 2019.
James, who captained Queensland, played six Mal Meninga Cup games for the Devils, scoring four tries and kicking 24 goals for 64 points.
Tabuai-Fidow was the Mal Meninga Cup’s top try scorer, scoring an astonishing 13 tries in just six appearances.
The Cairns flyer, who was selected for the Australian Schoolboys in July, will join the North Queensland Cowboys’ NRL squad in 2020.
