Penrith Panthers 24 def. St George Illawarra Dragons 16
A double to second rower Ratu Nanovo helped Penrith to an eight point win over the Dragons. After trailing twice in the first half, the Panthers took a two point lead into the break before extending it to 12 with 15 minutes to play. The Dragons got within six in the final 10 minutes but a late Penrith penalty goal iced the victory. The Panthers now sit in fourth, while the Dragons drop to eighth.

Canterbury Bulldgos 30 def. Cronulla Sharks 6
Canterbury ended Cronulla’s seven-game winning streak with a dominant 24-point victory at Belmore Sports Ground. The Bulldogs were largely untroubled throughout the match, jumping out to a 20-0 half time lead. Bulldogs’ halfback Jake Averillo scored two tries and kicked five goals for a personal 18-point haul. The win, Canterbury’s fourth straight, moves them into fifth, while Cronulla remain in first.

Newcastle Knights 52 def. Manly Sea Eagles 8
Newcastle returned to the winner’s circle in Round 16 with a 44-point thumping of Manly at McDonald Jones Stadium. The Knights, who led 28-4 at the break, ran in nine tries, which included a hat trick to centre Dylan Lucas and a double to fullback Toby Marks. Newcastle sit in third, four points behind Cronulla, while Manly are 13th.

Warriors 26 def. North Sydney Bears 24
The Warriors recorded their first win since Round 9 thanks to a final minute penalty goal. The Warriors, who lead by 12 on two occasions, were chased down by the Bears three times, who were searching for their first win of 2019. Locked at 24-all with seconds to play, North Sydney were penalised for being inside the 10, with Warriors’ halfback Sione Moala stepping up to kick the game winner. The win puts the Warriors just three points outside the top 8.

Canberra Raiders 28 def. Parramatta Eels 16
Canberra snapped their three-game losing streak after holding off the Eels at Ringrose Park. The Raiders led 20-6 heading into the final 20 minutes before Parramatta began their comeback. After the deficit was cut to four, the Raiders put the game to bed with two tries in the final 10 minutes, including a second to hooker Kyle Paterson. The win moves Canberra back into seventh spot.

Sydney Roosters 22 def. Victoria Thunderbolts 10
The Roosters proved too strong for Victoria, winning by 12 points at North Sydney Oval on Sunday afternoon. The Roosters led 16-0 at half time before Victoria got on the board in the 44th minute through Jordin Leiu. The Tricolours pushed their lead back out to 18 in the 48th minute, with the Thunderbolts crossing for a late consolation try with four minutes to play. The Roosters sit in second spot, three points behind the Sharks.

Wests Tigers 38 def. South Sydney Rabbitohs 24
Wests Tigers defeated South Sydney in a high scoring affair at Campbelltown Stadium. Their first win in three weeks, the Tigers led 36-12 with 20 minutes to play after a strong start to the second half. The Rabbitohs crossed twice to get within 12 points but with five minutes remaining, it wouldn’t be enough. The win leaves the Tigers four points outside the eight, while South Sydney drop to sixth.
