The 2022 Schoolboy Cup, known as the NRL Schoolboy Cup, was the 48th staging of Australia’s premier secondary schools competition.
For the first time, the Southern Conference played for the Peter Mulholland Cup, named after Peter Mulholland, who passed away in December 2021. Mulholland, who played first grade for Canterbury, coached St Gregory’s College Campbelltown for 14 years, winning six Schoolboy titles with the school.
In Queensland, the Dolphins Cup was formed for central Queensland schools, joining the Aaron Payne Cup (north Queensland) and Allan Langer Trophy (south east Queensland).
2022 saw the first national final held since 2019, with Ipswich State High defeating Patrician Brothers’ College Fairfield to win their first ever Schoolboy Cup.
