
The Townsville Blackhawks have won their first ever Hastings Deering Colts premiership after defeating the Redcliffe Dolphins 46-32 on Saturday.
A shootout in which 14 tries were scored in total, the Blackhawks were forced to hold off a fast finishing Dolphins outfit.
The Blackhawks led 22-10 at the break, stretching their lead to 22 points in the second half before Redcliffe got to within six with five minutes to play.
Player of the Match Jacob Mene iced the game for Townsville in the 78th minute with his third try of the game, sealing his side’s maiden premiership.
