The Canberra Raiders U20s are the 2020 CRRL Cup premiers after a dominant 66–10 win over the Gungahlin Bulls at Seiffert Oval on Sunday.
The Raiders shot out to a 46–0 lead in the first half, running in eight tries. Fullback Manase Kaho scored three of those eight to record a first half hat trick.
Prop Sila Titiuti crossed shortly after the break to extend Canberra’s lead to 52.
Gungahlin finally got on the board in the 53rd minute through Linkin Bradley but the Raiders hit back with tries to Caleb Esera, his second and third of the afternoon.
The Bulls recorded their second try of the day inside the final ten minutes when Tristan Eldridge scored before Raiders half Jordan Williams iced the game with a try of his own in the final three minutes.
The Canberra Raiders were the only NRL under-20 side to compete since the lockdown, with restrictions in the ACT allowing them to compete in the senior CRRL Cup competition.
They had the bye in Round 1 of the Jersey Flegg competition back in March and were set to play the Canterbury Bulldogs in Round 2 before the season was suspended, and later cancelled.
In a shortened 9-round regular season, which featured just four teams, the Raiders lost just one game on their way to the minor premiership.
Mitch Souter and Jordan Williams finished in a three-way tie for the CRRL Cup Best & Fairest award alongside Woden Valley’s Brayden Robertson.
Canberra Raiders U20s 66 (Caleb Esera 3, Manase Kaho 3, Josh Allen, Cooper Harris, Trey Mooney, Sila Titiuti, Adrian Trevilyan, Jordan Williams tries; Mitch Souter 5, Jordan Williams 4 goals) def. Gungahlin Bulls 10 (Linkin Bradley, Tristan Eldridge tries; Cody Smith goal) at Seiffert Oval.
