Vea Tapaatoutai and Bailey Biondi-Odo have both received honours at the Parramatta Eels’ end of season Ken Thornett Medal awards night at Bankwest Stadium.
Tapaatoutai, who played 15 games off the bench and at hooker, received the Steve Ella Players’ Player award, while Biondi-Odo picked up the Brett Kenny Coaches award.
A graduate of Parramatta’s SG Ball side, Tapaatoutai made his Jersey Flegg Cup debut in 2018, playing eight games before taking a more senior role in the team this season.
After starting 2019 on the bench, he became the side’s starting hooker towards the end of the season, starting eight of his 15 games at the position, scoring four tries.
He also made his Canterbury Cup debut for Wentworthville midway through the year.
Biondi-Odo, an Innisfail Cowboys junior, joined the club’s Flegg side in 2019 and played at 18 games at halfback, scoring seven tries and kicking 36 goals.
The 17-year old played for the Eels’ Harold Matthews Cup side in 2017 before returning to Queensland and playing for the Northern Pride in last year’s Mal Meninga Cup competition.
