Jake Simpkin

The Wests Tigers have announced the signing of Wynnum Manly Seagulls duo Jake Simpkin and Reece Hoffman on multi year deals.

Earlier this year they helped Wynnum Manly’s under-18 side to the Mal Meninga Cup Grand Final, before being selected in the Queensland under-18 side that defeated New South Wales, with Simpkin scoring a try in the victory.

They are currently playing for Wynnum Manly’s under-20 side, who sit second on the Hastings Deering Colts ladder.

Simpkin, a hooker originally from Toowoomba, has scored five tries in eight games, while Hoffman, a centre, has scored five tries and kicked 35 goals in nine games.

Both players will join the club on development contracts, allowing them to train with the NRL squad, with Simpkin moving into the top 30 in 2021, while Hoffman will make the move up in 2022.
