Victoria Thunderbolts 24 def. North Sydney Bears 22
After a strong start, the Thunderbolts had to overcome a late deficit to defeat the Bears and record their first win of 2019. Victoria took a 16-4 lead into the break before North Sydney levelled the scores ten minutes after half time. The Bears took the lead with 13 minutes to play before Thunderbolts’ winger Josese Waqalevu scored his third try of the game to seal the win.

South Sydney Rabbitohs 23 def. Penrith Panthers 22
South Sydney snapped a two-game losing streak with a thrilling win over Penrith at Redfern. Trailing 18-4 at half time, the Rabbitohs fought back to lead by two with 15 minutes remaning. Adam Fearnley crossed for Penrith in the 61st minute to tie the game before Rabbitohs’ halfback Lachlan Ilias slotted a field goal in the final seconds.

Canterbury Bulldogs 17 def. Sydney Roosters 16
It was another nail biter on Saturday afternoon as the Bulldogs defeated the Roosters by a point at Belmore. It was a tight affair, in which Canterbury fought back to level the scores on two occasions. They trailed 10-0 after half an hour and 16-10 after 50 minutes. After levelling the contest in the 65th minute, five-eighth Alex Seve kicked a field goal in the final minute to snatch the victory.

Parramatta Eels 32 def. Warriors 24
An incredible five-minute blitz saw Parramatta come from behind to defeat the Warriors at McCredie Park. After controlling most of the match, the Warriors led by 10 with just under nine minutes remaining. Jesse Cronin crossed for the Eels in the 65th minute to cut the lead to four with John Fonua scoring just a minute later to level the scores. Bailey Biondi-Odo converted to take the lead before Vea Tapaatoutai scored in the final minute to seal the comeback.

Manly Sea Eagles 21 def. St George Illawarra Dragons 20
Manly picked up their second straight win after finishing on top of the Dragons in a back-and-forth contest. The lead changed hands four times in the first 45 minutes before the Dragons pulled away with an eight-point lead. Manly would eventually level the scores through a Jamie Lawler try before a Hyrum Wichmann field goal in the final minute gave them the victory.

Cronulla Sharks 25 def. Canberra Raiders 24
Cronulla made it six straight wins after holding off a fast finishing Canberra in Belconnen. The Sharks took a 13-12 lead into the break thanks to a Kai Broadhurst field goal. They pushed their lead to 13 after two second half tries before the Raiders crossed in the 58th minute. Canberra scored in the final minute to get within one point but it was too late.

Newcastle Knights 22 def. Wests Tigers 6
Newcastle continued their winning run in Round 14, defeating the Tigers by 16 points to record their fifth straight win. The Knights opened the scoring through Ben Talty, his first try of the game, before the Tigers levelled the scores in the 8th minute. From there it was all Newcastle, running in three tries, including Talty’s second.
