Each week in the U20 Report we look at under-20 eligible players from your club who are currently playing in either the Intrust Super Cup (Queensland) or Canterbury Cup (New South Wales).

Brisbane Broncos
Centre Herbie Farnworth continued his strong Intrust Super Cup form with a try and 187 run metres in Norths’ 36-point win over the Capras. Ethan Bullemor started at prop for the first time, making 18 tackles without miss in 39 minutes. Halfback Cory Paix set up a try and ran for 63 metres in Redcliffe’s 40-point win over the PNG Hunters.

Centre Harley Smith-Shields and hooker Kyle Paterson were strong performers in Mounties’ 10-point loss to North Sydney. Smith-Shields ran for 94 metres and made 24 tackles, while Paterson made 40 tackles, with just one miss, in 59 minutes.

Winger Isaiah Tass took his try scoring tally to three in two games thanks to a double in Canterbury’s close two-point win over Newcastle on Saturday night. On the other wing, Tui Katoa ran for 87 metres, while prop James Roumanos made 19 tackles without miss in 30 minutes.

Centre Ioane Seiuli scored his first try of the year in Tweed’s big win over Souths Logan on Sunday afternoon. The Ormeau junior added 130 metres, a try assist and three tackle breaks in a brilliant performance. His centre partner Treymain Spry ran for 92 metres himself, breaking three tackles.

Cooper Johns and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui were standouts once again as the Sunshine Coast defeated Burleigh to remain undefeated in 2019. Johns, who spent time in the sin bin, set up two tries and made 23 tackles, while Fa’asuamaleaui scored a try, ran for 124 metres and broke six tackles in 52 minutes off the bench.

Five-eighth Phoenix Crossland was involved in everything in Newcastle’s tight two-point loss to the Bulldogs. The Erina junior set up a try, made 13 tackles and kicked for 126 metres in the defeat. Fullback Tex Hoy ran for 106 metres, while prop Mathew Croker made 12 tackles in 21 minutes off the bench.

Gilbert, who doesn’t turn 19 until August, added 31 tackles, with just one miss, in 61 minutes. Winger Elijah Anderson ran for 86 metres in the Capras’ big loss to Norths.

Jersey Flegg captain J’maine Hopgood made his CC Cup debut, running 80 metres off the bench. Adam Fearnley set up two tries in his 26 minutes on the field.

Second rower Fletcher Baker played the full 80, making 30 tackles. Josh Curran played 33 minutes off the bench, while Daniel Fifita was an unused substitute.
