Mahoney named Eels’ best

Parramatta Eels’ utility Reed Mahoney has been awarded the Steve Ella NYC Player of the Year award at the club’s presentation evening last night.

Mahoney, who joined the club from the Bulldogs last season, has played all 23 games for the Eels’ so far in 2017, coming off the bench in all but three of those games.

A Kawana Dolphins and Beerwah Bulldogs junior, Mahoney has scored 11 tries and is averaging 71.8 metres and 40.4 tackles a game this season.

Blockbusting winger Greg Leleisiuao was also honoured, picking up the Brett Kenny NYC Coaches’ award.

A two-time Junior Kiwi, Leleisiuao joined the club from the Titans this season and has been near unstoppable on the flank.

He has 17 tries in 18 games and leads the competition in run metres per game (211.2) and tackle breaks per game (11).
