The Mustangs moved off the bottom of the ladder with a 32-point win over Redcliffe, their biggest ever Colts victory. The Mustangs were firing on all cylinders, running in nine tries, which included doubles to Leslie Hartvigsen and Liam Short. They now sit in 13th, one point behind the Dolphins. Townsville Blackhawks 32 def. Wynnum Manly Seagulls 4
Townsville have proven to be the team to beat after a 28-point win over Wynnum Manly. Unbeaten since Round 11, the Blackhawks led 20-4 at half time and added two second half tries to put the game beyond doubt. Townsville now move into first place, while the Seagulls drop to third.
Norths Devils 44 def. CQ Capras 14
Norths bounced back from a last start loss with a strong 30-point win over the Capras, ending their finals hopes. Leading 22-4 at the break, the Devils finished with eight tries to eight different try scorers. They sit in sixth and can not finish any lower, while the Capras are 10th.
Mackay Cutters 46 def. Ipswich Jets 12
Mackay remain in the hunt for the top four going into the final round thanks to a 34-point win over Ipswich. Rayden Burns and Blake Paskins both crossed for doubles as the Cutters ran in eight tries to two. While Mackay sit in fifth, the Jets now drop to last place, a point behind the Mustangs.
Easts Tigers 34 def. Northern Pride 14
Easts all but confirmed their spot in the finals with a 20-point win over the Pride in Cairns. The Tigers were in control throughout the contest, leading 22-4 at half time on their way to handing the Pride their sixth straight defeat. After just two wins from their last 12, the Pride have finally dropped out of the eight and will face Tweed for a spot in the finals next weekend.
Sunshine Coast Falcons 28 def. Burleigh Bears 20
The Sunshine Coast handed Burleigh their first loss since Round 13 and took control of fourth spot with a come from behind win. With 10 minutes to play, trailing by 10, the Falcons turned it on, scoring three tries to snatch victory. The loss drops Burleigh to second on the ladder after a long run in first place. Debutants: Jaiden Zanchetta (Sunshine Coast).
Tweed Heads Seagulls 40 def. Souths Logan Magpies 12
Tweed Heads moved into the top eight and set up a huge final round clash with a 28-point win over Souths Logan. Their first win since Round 13, the Seagulls scored seven tries, with hooker Reece Butler and prop Aidan Kennedy both bagging doubles. They’ll now play the Pride in Round 23, with the winner securing a spot in the finals.
