Newcastle Knights 24 def. North Sydney Bears 10
Newcastle turned it on the second half to defeat North Sydney and remain in the hunt for the top four. After a 4-all first half, the Knights scored four unanswered second half tries before the Bears scored a late consolation four-pointer. Returning centre Bradman Best scored a hat trick in the win.

Canberra Raiders 24 def. Victoria Thunderbolts 18
Canberra overcame a tough Thunderbolts outfit to keep in touch with the top four. The Raiders led 12-0 early but were chased down before half time. They regained a 12-point lead heading into the final 20 and held off Victoria, who cut the lead to six with five minutes to play.

Canterbury Bulldogs 18 def. South Sydney Rabbitohs 12
Canterbury jumped into the top four with a six-point win over the third-placed Rabbitohs. The Bulldogs never trailed in the contest, holding off South Sydney as they rallied against 10 and eight-point leads. Rabbitohs centre Jaxson Paulo scored a hat trick in the loss, while Bulldogs winger Tyrone Harding crossed twice. Debutants: Christian Urso (Canterbury).

Sydney Roosters 30 def. Warriors 28
Sydney remain in first place after holding off a surging Warriors to record a two-point victory. The Roosters led 20-0 after 33 minutes before the Warriors stormed back to trail by just four points. After the lead got out to eight, the Warriors cut it to two inside the final 10 minutes but were held off by the league leaders. The loss sees the Warriors drop out of the top eight. Debutants: Feao Tongia (Warriors).

Parramatta Eels 30 def. Manly Sea Eagles 12
Parramatta defeated Manly to record their third straight win, as they look to finish the year strong. Unable to make the top eight, the Eels ran in five tries, which included two to second rower Charbel Tasipale. Manly sit in last place, one point behind the 13th placed Bears. Debutants: Siua Fotu, Angus O’Donnell (Manly), Ethan Le Blanc (Parramatta).

Wests Tigers 34 def. Penrith Panthers 6
The Tigers have been the form team of the competition for the last month and continued that run with a dominant win over Penrith. After trailing 6-0 early, they ran in six unanswered tries to defeat the Panthers, who have now dropped to seventh. The Tigers, who are ninth, momentarily sat in the eight until the Dragons victory.

St George Illawarra Dragons 38 def. Cronulla Sharks 18
St George Illawarra pulled off the upset win over Cronulla to leap frog the Tigers into eighth spot. The scores were locked at 18-all after 43 minutes before the Dragons ran away with it, scoring three tries in the final 25. The loss is Cronulla’s fourth in their last six games, as they drop to second on the ladder. Debutants: Zane Elsey, Jack Gould (Cronulla).
