
The finals series of Queensland’s premier under-20’s competition begins this weekend, with two big games to be played at Wynnum’s Kougari Oval. Wynnum themselves finished as minor premiers in the competition, earning a bye this weekend. They’ll face the winner of Saturday’s Qualifying Final between Redcliffe and Easts, while the loser of that game will face the winner of the Elimination Final between Norths and Burleigh.

Norths and Burleigh meet in Saturday’s first game, the two teams splitting their games during the regular season. Norths’ fullback Jack Mackin is the most experienced Devil, the former Newcastle NYC player having played five Intrust Super Cup games this season. Burleigh’s side features a wealth of NYC experience, with eight players having played Holden Cup in 2016, including Kelepi Faukafa, who has spent most of the season with the Titans’ NYC side.

Redcliffe and Easts will face in Saturday’s second game, with the winner taking on Wynnum Manly next weekend for a place in the Grand Final. Redcliffe finished just two points behind Wynnum and conceded the least points of any team in the competition, while their opponents, Easts, conceded the most of any Top 5 team. Redcliffe and Easts met three times this season, with the Dolphins taking two of the games, while the Tigers won the most recent game.
