The New South Wales U16 side defeated Queensland U16 for the first time since 2013, with a hard fought two-point victory on Wednesday evening.
The game was predominately played in the middle of the park, with penalties helping both sides get into attacking positions.
The Blues were the first team to post points thanks to centre Bronson Xerri, who grubbered for himself to score near the posts.
They went into half time up 6-0 after the conversion from five-eighth Jock Madden.
Queensland got on the scoreboard a few minutes into the second half after winger Jonathan Siofele crossed in the corner.
Cory Paix missed the sideline conversion but was able to level scores with a penalty goal from in front a few minutes later.
The Maroons almost took the lead shortly after, when lock David Fifita made a break but his pass to an open Dejzha Pene was dropped.
After withstanding plenty of pressure, NSW retook the lead with a try to William Kei, which came off a great Shawn Blore offload.
Madden converted from the sideline to give his side a 12-6 lead.
After a forced repeat set, Pene finally got his try, scoring in the corner for Queensland.
Paix missed the conversion, with New South Wales holding on in the final minutes to win 12-10.
