The Steelers and Panthers meet for the third time this season, with Illawarra winning on both occasions and hoping for a similar result on Saturday afternoon. The second occasion was just three weeks ago, Illawarra’s four-point victory giving them a week a off. Penrith faced reigning Premiers Cronulla a week later, eliminating them with a 26-point win. Last week, Illawarra had a two-point victory over South Sydney to advance to the final, while Penrith defeated Newcastle. A win on Saturday will give Illawarra their first SG Ball title since 1996. Penrith, who finished runners-up in 2013 and 2014, are looking for their first title since 2006.

Its 1st v 3rd in this weekend’s under-16’s Grand Final, with the undefeated minor premiers Parramatta taking on Newcastle, who suffered just one loss themselves in 2016. Both sides won their Finals Week 1 games, earning a bye in Week 2. Parramatta almost suffered their first loss in their preliminary final against Penrith. A Dylan Brown field goal sending them through to the Grand Final, while Newcastle defeated Canterbury by eight points to earn their place. The Eels last won this competition in 2013, with Newcastle winning it a year later. These two clubs met in the 2012 final, with Parramatta coming away with the victory.
Keep An Eye On
Eels’ centre William Kei scored an unbelievable 19 tries in Parramatta’s 9 regular round games. Yet to cross the stripe in the finals, will Kei break his drought in the Grand Final? Knights’ five-eighth Jock Madden has played a major role in his side’s run to the final. With 9 tries and 35 goals, Madden should play a big part in this weekend’s game.
