John Morris will begin his head coaching career at his former club, taking the reins of the Cronulla Sharks’ NYC side for 2016.
Morris began his career with the Knights in 2001 and spent time with the Eels and Tigers before joining Cronulla in 2010.
He retired at the end of the 2014 season having recorded 300 games in the NRL.
In 2015, he was the head of the Sharks High Performance Unit and Academy, contributing to Cronulla’s national championship winning SG Ball and Harold Matthews sides.
Morris said he is excited at the prospect of taking on a new role within the Club and overseeing the development of the next crop of young talent to come through the ranks at the Sharks.
“I’m excited to be given the responsibility of taking on this team in 2016,” said Morris.
“Obviously there’s a lot of young talent within the Club and we need to harness that and turn it into results in the future both on the field in the normal playing season and as a pathway to our elite NRL squad.”
